We upload a PDF or document you supply and implement a clear download link on the specified page — a straightforward, often-overlooked detail being whether the link opens the file in a new tab, downloads directly, or displays inline, which affects the actual visitor experience more than it might seem.
PDF & document upload with download links
A finished PDF uploaded with a correctly configured download link.
- Full backup taken before we start
- If we can’t fix it, you get your money back
- We never ask for your own password
What we need from you
- The final PDF or document file, ready to upload
- The specific page where the download link should appear, and the link text to use
- Your preference for how the file opens (new tab, direct download, or inline display)
This or something else?
| You have a finished document ready to upload with a download link added to a page | This fix covers it |
| You need multiple documents uploaded at once across several pages | Worth confirming scope — this can extend to a batch if you have several ready |
| The document itself needs creating or formatted content extracted from it | Outside this fix’s scope — a different kind of content service |
| You want the document’s content marked up for FAQ schema | FAQ extraction from existing content for schema, in the Metadata & Content Generation category |
What we do
- Confirm the file, its destination page, and your preference for how it opens
- Upload the document to your media library
- Implement the download link with the specified text and behaviour
- Verify the file downloads or displays correctly when the link is clicked
- Check the link works correctly across desktop and mobile
- Confirm file size doesn’t cause an unreasonable loading delay
What is included
- A finished document uploaded and linked correctly on your specified page
- Your preferred link behaviour (new tab, download, or inline) implemented
- Verified functionality across desktop and mobile
- A check on the file’s loading impact
Not included
- Creating, editing, or formatting the document’s actual content
- Extracting or repurposing the document’s content into page text or schema
- Uploading multiple unrelated documents as a larger batch, unless scoped upfront
- Ongoing document management as new files are added
Questions about this fix
Does it matter whether the file opens in a new tab or downloads directly?
Yes, meaningfully for user experience — a direct download can feel abrupt if a visitor expected to view the content first, while opening in a new tab lets them preview a PDF without losing their place on your site; worth telling us your preference.
Will a large PDF slow down the page it's linked from?
The link itself is lightweight; the file only loads when a visitor actually clicks it, so a large document doesn't add to the page's own loading time, though the click-through experience for the visitor depends on their own connection.
Can I have the same document linked from multiple pages?
Yes, once uploaded, the same file can be linked from as many pages as you specify, without needing to upload multiple copies.
What if I need to update the document later with a new version?
We can replace the file at the same link, or add an entirely new one — worth telling us which you'd prefer when the update becomes necessary.
Should the document be optimised or compressed before uploading?
If the file is unusually large, compressing it beforehand can improve the experience for visitors on slower connections — we can flag this if your supplied file seems larger than necessary for its content.

If this is the second time this year
A bad update breaking the site is a symptom of updates not being tested first. Care plans run every update on a staging clone before it reaches your live site, which is the actual fix for this happening again.
Your access, your rules
Create a separate admin account for us and delete it when we are done. For anything else, we get in touch and agree a method — never a form field on this site, never by reply to an email.
We back up first, always
Before anything is touched we take a full backup and keep it for 30 days. If a fix goes wrong, we put the site back exactly as it was.
If it is not what you bought
If the problem turns out smaller than what you ordered, we refund the difference. If it is bigger, we stop and send a quote before doing any extra work.
If we cannot fix it
You get back what we received. Diagnosis is on us — you only pay when the problem is actually solved. The payment processor takes its fee before the money reaches us, so we never hold it and it is not ours to return. That is true here as everywhere else.
If it comes back
Reply within seven days of delivery and we put it back on the bench at no cost. The fix is not finished until it holds.
What we are responsible for
If something goes wrong with a fix, our responsibility is limited to what you paid for it. We take a full backup first so mistakes can be undone, and we tell you before doing anything outside what you bought.
