High-Performance Order Storage moves orders out of the posts table into dedicated tables. It is substantially faster for stores with meaningful order volume. It also changes where every plugin has to look for order data, so anything not updated for it will break — which is why compatibility checking comes before migration, not after.
Why we check before we migrate
The migration itself is well-built and reliable. The risk is not the data — it is plugins that still look for orders in the old location and find nothing.
An incompatible subscription, accounting or fulfilment plugin does not error loudly. It quietly stops seeing orders, and you find out days later. That is why the compatibility audit comes first and why we will tell you plainly if the honest answer is not yet.
HPOS order storage migration
Migrating order storage to HPOS, safely. We verify compatibility, migrate on staging first, and confirm every order survives intact.
- Full backup taken before we start
- If we can’t fix it, you get your money back
- We never ask for your own password
What we need from you
- Access to the store and permission to work on staging
- A list of any custom code or integrations that touch orders
- A quiet window for the final switch, if the store is busy
This or something else?
| Store is slow on order screens | This fix covers it |
| WooCommerce is prompting you to migrate | This fix covers it |
| A plugin says it is incompatible | This fix covers it |
| Orders missing or wrong after migrating | This fix covers it |
| Store slow generally, not just orders | Slow shop and archive optimisation |
What we do
- Audit every plugin and custom integration for HPOS compatibility
- Report anything incompatible before touching the store
- Clone to staging and run the migration there first
- Verify order data, counts and integrations on the clone
- Run the live migration during a quiet window
- Confirm order creation, editing, emails and reporting all work
What is included
- Orders migrated with counts and data verified
- A compatibility report covering every plugin that touches orders
- Synchronisation left in place so a rollback is possible
- The pre-migration backup, kept for 30 days
Not included
- Updating incompatible plugins ourselves — we identify them, you decide
- Rewriting custom code that assumes the old storage, which we quote separately
- Migrating a store where critical plugins are incompatible and unmaintained
- Design changes or content work
Questions about this fix
Will my orders be safe?
Yes. Data is copied rather than moved, and synchronisation stays on so both locations are maintained during transition. That is what makes a rollback possible if something unexpected appears.
Do I actually need this?
If your order screens are slow and you have tens of thousands of orders, meaningfully yes. Under a few thousand orders the gain is small. We will tell you honestly if the answer for your store is that it can wait.
What if a plugin is incompatible?
We tell you before migrating, not after. Usually there is an updated version. Where a plugin is abandoned and incompatible, the honest answer is to replace it first or postpone — and we say that rather than migrate and hope.
Can it be reversed?
While synchronisation is running, yes. That is deliberately left in place for a period after migration, so if something surfaces a week later you are not stuck.
How long does the migration itself take?
It depends on order volume more than anything else — a few hundred orders is quick, tens of thousands takes longer since every one is being moved and verified rather than just flagged as migrated.

If this is the second time this year
A bad update breaking the site is a symptom of updates not being tested first. Care plans run every update on a staging clone before it reaches your live site, which is the actual fix for this happening again.
Your access, your rules
Create a separate admin account for us and delete it when we are done. For anything else, we get in touch and agree a method — never a form field on this site, never by reply to an email.
We back up first, always
Before anything is touched we take a full backup and keep it for 30 days. If a fix goes wrong, we put the site back exactly as it was.
If it is not what you bought
If the problem turns out smaller than what you ordered, we refund the difference. If it is bigger, we stop and send a quote before doing any extra work.
If we cannot fix it
You get back what we received. Diagnosis is on us — you only pay when the problem is actually solved. The payment processor takes its fee before the money reaches us, so we never hold it and it is not ours to return. That is true here as everywhere else.
If it comes back
Reply within seven days of delivery and we put it back on the bench at no cost. The fix is not finished until it holds.
What we are responsible for
If something goes wrong with a fix, our responsibility is limited to what you paid for it. We take a full backup first so mistakes can be undone, and we tell you before doing anything outside what you bought.
