Home / Ongoing Work / Hosting & Infrastructure / Addon & parked domain configuration

We configure an addon domain (a completely separate domain hosted within the same account) or a parked domain (an alias pointing at existing content) through your control panel — distinct from a subdomain, since these involve entirely separate domain names rather than a prefix on your existing one.

Addon & parked domain configuration

An addon or parked domain configured correctly — a separate name, not a prefix on your existing one.

Needs Hosting panel and Sub-account invite. Create a limited sub-account — we never ask for your own password.
  • Full backup taken before we start
  • If we can’t fix it, you get your money back
  • We never ask for your own password
Why this costs $49. An hour of a capable WordPress developer’s time runs about $82 in the UK, $100 in the US and $105 in the Gulf, and for anything urgent a two-hour minimum is normal. This is $49 for up to 45 minutes of hands-on work, with a full backup taken before we start. 2026 market rates.

What we need from you

  • Access to your hosting control panel
  • The domain name and confirmation of whether it should be an addon domain (separate content) or parked (pointing at existing content)
  • Confirmation the domain’s DNS is already pointed at your hosting, or needs that configured too

This or something else?

You need a completely separate domain configured as an addon or parked domain This fix covers it
You want a subdomain of your existing domain instead Subdomain creation & document root mapping
The domain’s DNS itself needs configuring before this makes sense DNS zone record management at host, worth doing first if DNS isn’t already pointed correctly
You want to actually migrate a full site to this domain, not just configure it at the host level Domain change – full site URL migration, in the Configuration & Environment category, a larger, related undertaking

What we do

  1. Confirm the domain and its intended purpose (addon with separate content, or parked)
  2. Verify DNS is correctly pointed at your hosting, or guide the change needed
  3. Configure the domain through your control panel accordingly
  4. Verify it resolves correctly and serves the intended content
  5. Check SSL coverage for the new domain
  6. Document the configuration for future reference

What is included

  • A domain configured correctly as an addon or parked domain
  • Verified DNS pointing and correct resolution
  • A check on SSL coverage for the domain
  • A written note on the configuration

Not included

  • Purchasing or registering the domain itself, if not already done
  • Migrating an entire site to this domain, a separate, larger fix if that’s your actual goal
  • SSL certificate installation, if not already covered — a separate, related fix if needed
  • Ongoing management as your domain portfolio changes

Questions about this fix

What's the actual difference between an addon domain and a parked domain?

An addon domain hosts genuinely separate content of its own, functioning almost like a second website within the same account; a parked domain is essentially an alias that shows the same content as another domain you already have, without needing separate files.

Do I need to buy hosting separately for an addon domain?

No, that's specifically the point of an addon domain — it lives within your existing hosting account, sharing the account's overall resources rather than needing its own separate hosting plan.

How long before the domain actually starts working after this is configured?

Once DNS is correctly pointed and the control panel configuration is complete, it's often quick, though DNS propagation timing can vary and occasionally take longer than expected.

Can I have multiple addon domains under one hosting account?

Many hosting plans support this, often up to a specific limit set by your plan — we'd confirm what your particular plan allows.

Will this affect my existing, primary domain in any way?

No, configuring an addon or parked domain shouldn't affect your existing site or domain's own function.

Your access, your rules

Create a separate admin account for us and delete it when we are done. For anything else, we get in touch and agree a method — never a form field on this site, never by reply to an email.

We back up first, always

Before anything is touched we take a full backup and keep it for 30 days. If a fix goes wrong, we put the site back exactly as it was.

If it is not what you bought

If the problem turns out smaller than what you ordered, we refund the difference. If it is bigger, we stop and send a quote before doing any extra work.

If we cannot fix it

You get back what we received. Diagnosis is on us — you only pay when the problem is actually solved. The payment processor takes its fee before the money reaches us, so we never hold it and it is not ours to return. That is true here as everywhere else.

If it comes back

Reply within seven days of delivery and we put it back on the bench at no cost. The fix is not finished until it holds.

What we are responsible for

If something goes wrong with a fix, our responsibility is limited to what you paid for it. We take a full backup first so mistakes can be undone, and we tell you before doing anything outside what you bought.
