We reassign posts to a different author in bulk — useful when a writer leaves, a byline convention changes, or content originally posted under one account needs correctly attributing to another. We implement exactly the reassignment mapping you specify.
Bulk author reassignment
Posts reassigned to a different author in bulk, from a mapping you supply.
- Full backup taken before we start
- If we can’t fix it, you get your money back
- We never ask for your own password
What we need from you
- A clear mapping of which posts move to which author account
- Confirmation the destination author accounts already exist, or need creating first
- Confirmation of the full scope (how many posts are affected)
This or something else?
| You have a specific author reassignment mapping ready to implement in bulk | This fix covers it |
| You want posts reassigned to different categories or tags, not a different author | Bulk category & tag reassignment |
| The destination author account doesn’t exist yet and needs creating | Worth confirming — we can create the account as part of this fix if needed |
| You want Person schema updated to reflect the new authorship | Person & author entity schema, in the Schema & Machine Readability category, a related, complementary fix |
What we do
- Confirm the mapping of posts to their new author accounts
- Verify destination author accounts exist, creating them if needed and specified
- Execute the reassignment across the specified scope
- Verify a representative sample reflects the correct new authorship
- Check that author archive pages display correctly afterward
- Provide a written summary of what was reassigned
What is included
- Posts reassigned to their specified authors
- Destination author accounts created if needed and specified
- Verified accuracy across a representative sample
- A written summary of the reassignment
Not included
- Category or tag reassignment, a separate, related fix
- Person schema updates reflecting new authorship, a separate, related, complementary fix
- Deciding byline or authorship conventions — that’s your call to specify
- Ongoing reassignment as new content is published
Questions about this fix
What happens to the old author's account after reassignment?
That depends on your preference — we can leave it in place, deactivate it, or remove it, though removing a user account with other associated content needs care, which we'd confirm with you directly.
Can this update the author bio displayed on the reassigned posts too?
If the new author already has a bio set up on their account, it will display automatically once posts are reassigned to them — updating the bio content itself is a separate task if that also needs changing.
Will this affect the post's original publish date?
No, reassigning the author doesn't change the publish date — if you also want dates updated, that's a separate, related fix.
How large a reassignment can this handle?
This scales well to a large number of posts — a bigger mapping just takes proportionally more careful verification.
Should I also update Person schema for the new author?
Worth considering if you want the new author properly recognised as a distinct entity by search engines — that's a separate, related, complementary fix using confirmed author details.

If this is the second time this year
A bad update breaking the site is a symptom of updates not being tested first. Care plans run every update on a staging clone before it reaches your live site, which is the actual fix for this happening again.
Your access, your rules
Create a separate admin account for us and delete it when we are done. For anything else, we get in touch and agree a method — never a form field on this site, never by reply to an email.
We back up first, always
Before anything is touched we take a full backup and keep it for 30 days. If a fix goes wrong, we put the site back exactly as it was.
If it is not what you bought
If the problem turns out smaller than what you ordered, we refund the difference. If it is bigger, we stop and send a quote before doing any extra work.
If we cannot fix it
You get back what we received. Diagnosis is on us — you only pay when the problem is actually solved. The payment processor takes its fee before the money reaches us, so we never hold it and it is not ours to return. That is true here as everywhere else.
If it comes back
Reply within seven days of delivery and we put it back on the bench at no cost. The fix is not finished until it holds.
What we are responsible for
If something goes wrong with a fix, our responsibility is limited to what you paid for it. We take a full backup first so mistakes can be undone, and we tell you before doing anything outside what you bought.
