Most abandoned carts are recoverable with the right sequence of emails at the right intervals, but the plugin that sends them only works if it can identify the customer and reach them — which depends on checkout capturing an email address before the point most people abandon. We configure the trigger, the timing and the emails so the sequence has a real chance of landing, rather than firing correctly into an inbox that never sees it.
Recovery emails only work if deliverability already does
This assumes email from your store is actually being delivered. If order confirmations already land in spam or don’t arrive, recovery emails will have exactly the same problem, and configuring the plugin’s timing and content won’t fix that underneath it. We check this first rather than build a sequence on top of a foundation that’s already broken.
It’s also worth setting expectations correctly. A good sequence recovers a meaningful share of abandoned carts, not all of them — some visitors were never going to buy, price-checking rather than committing. We configure this to perform well, not to promise a recovery rate no plugin can guarantee.
Frequency matters as much as content. Too few emails and you leave recoverable revenue on the table; too many and customers unsubscribe from everything, including receipts. We pitch the sequence at what the evidence supports rather than sending as many as the plugin technically allows.
Worth knowing too: recovery emails work best in the first few hours after abandonment, while intent is still fresh. A sequence that starts a day later, or is delayed by the underlying deliverability problem mentioned above, recovers meaningfully less regardless of how well the copy is written.
Abandoned cart plugin configuration
You want abandoned carts followed up automatically with a recovery email sequence. We configure the trigger, timing and any discount, and confirm it actually sends.
- Full backup taken before we start
- If we can’t fix it, you get your money back
- We never ask for your own password
What we need from you
- Which abandoned cart plugin you’re using, or want us to recommend one
- How many emails you want in the sequence, and roughly how far apart
- Whether you want a discount code included, and if so, what value
- Access to your email sending setup, to confirm deliverability first
This or something else?
| Setting up recovery emails for the first time | This fix covers it |
| Recovery emails configured but not sending | This fix covers it |
| Deciding timing or discount strategy for the sequence | This fix covers it |
| Carts actually being lost before reaching checkout | Cart abandonment & session loss diagnosis |
| No emails arriving from the store at all | WooCommerce emails not sending |
What we do
- Confirm the email address is captured early enough in checkout to trigger recovery at all
- Verify that transactional email from the store is already delivering reliably before adding more to the queue
- Configure the recovery sequence — number of emails, timing, and content for each one
- Set up a discount code in the sequence, if you want one, with a clear expiry so it can’t be reused indefinitely
- Test the full sequence by abandoning a real cart ourselves and watching it trigger as a customer would see it
- Confirm recovered carts convert to real orders correctly, with the discount applying as intended
What is included
- A working recovery sequence, tested end to end with a real abandoned cart
- Discount code logic configured and expiring correctly, if used
- Deliverability of recovery emails confirmed, not assumed
- The pre-change backup, kept for 30 days
Not included
- Writing the marketing copy for the recovery emails, which is your brand voice to set
- Fixing underlying email deliverability, if that’s the actual problem — that’s diagnosed separately
- Ongoing analysis of recovery rate over time
- Buying or licensing the abandoned cart plugin itself
Questions about this fix
Can you recommend a plugin if I don't have one yet?
Yes, based on what your store already uses for email and how much control you want over timing and content. We won't sell you on a specific one before understanding that.
What discount should I offer in the recovery email?
That's a commercial decision, not a technical one — we configure whatever you choose, including none at all. Some stores recover carts perfectly well with a reminder alone.
Will this email people who abandoned a cart months ago?
No, only carts abandoned after the sequence is live. Retroactively emailing very old abandoned carts is possible but is a separate, one-off request, not part of ongoing configuration.
My abandoned cart emails go to spam. Is that part of this?
It's connected — we check deliverability as part of setting this up, because a recovery sequence that lands in spam recovers nothing. If deliverability itself needs deeper work, we'll say so.
Does this work for guest checkouts too?
Only if an email address was captured before the cart was abandoned. Guest checkouts that ask for email late in the flow will have fewer recoverable carts than ones that ask early — worth knowing before judging the plugin's performance.

If this is the second time this year
A bad update breaking the site is a symptom of updates not being tested first. Care plans run every update on a staging clone before it reaches your live site, which is the actual fix for this happening again.
Your access, your rules
Create a separate admin account for us and delete it when we are done. For anything else, we get in touch and agree a method — never a form field on this site, never by reply to an email.
We back up first, always
Before anything is touched we take a full backup and keep it for 30 days. If a fix goes wrong, we put the site back exactly as it was.
If it is not what you bought
If the problem turns out smaller than what you ordered, we refund the difference. If it is bigger, we stop and send a quote before doing any extra work.
If we cannot fix it
You get back what we received. Diagnosis is on us — you only pay when the problem is actually solved. The payment processor takes its fee before the money reaches us, so we never hold it and it is not ours to return. That is true here as everywhere else.
If it comes back
Reply within seven days of delivery and we put it back on the bench at no cost. The fix is not finished until it holds.
What we are responsible for
If something goes wrong with a fix, our responsibility is limited to what you paid for it. We take a full backup first so mistakes can be undone, and we tell you before doing anything outside what you bought.
