We automate refreshing your staging environment from live on a schedule, so staging doesn’t drift stale and out of sync — running ongoing after we leave, which means the same ownership consideration applies as any persistent automation: someone needs to notice if the refresh silently stops happening.
Automated staging refresh setup
Staging refreshed from live automatically, so it never drifts stale between uses.
- Full backup taken before we start
- If we can’t fix it, you get your money back
- We never ask for your own password
What we need from you
- Confirmation of your existing staging and live environments
- Confirmation of the desired refresh schedule and what should be included (database, files, or both)
- Confirmation of who should be notified if a scheduled refresh fails
This or something else?
| You want your staging environment refreshed from live automatically on an ongoing schedule | This fix covers it |
| You want a one-time staging environment created, not ongoing automated refreshing | Staging environment creation & sync, in the Backups, Staging & Migration Ops category, the prerequisite step |
| You want to push staging changes to live, not refresh staging from live | Staging-to-live push with conflict resolution, the opposite direction |
| An existing refresh automation has stopped working | Worth describing the specific failure directly — likely a diagnostic fix rather than a fresh setup |
What we do
- Confirm the refresh scope (database, files, or both) and schedule
- Build the automated refresh process
- Configure failure notification where feasible
- Test the first scheduled refresh to confirm correct, complete behaviour
- Verify staging remains usable and correctly excludes search engine indexing after each refresh
- Provide written documentation covering ownership and failure signs
What is included
- Automated staging refresh built to your specified scope and schedule
- Failure notification configured where feasible
- Verified correct, complete first refresh
- Written documentation on ownership and failure response
Not included
- Ongoing, indefinite monitoring of continued successful refreshing by us — that responsibility transfers to you
- Creating the staging environment itself, if not already in place — a separate, prerequisite fix
- Pushing staging changes to live, the opposite, separate direction of sync
- Fixing the automation if your hosting or staging setup changes significantly, unless engaged separately at that time
Questions about this fix
Why would I want staging refreshed automatically instead of just when I need it?
If staging is used regularly for testing, a stale, out-of-date staging environment can produce misleading test results — automatic refreshing keeps it reliably current without needing someone to remember to do it manually before every use.
What if I have work in progress on staging when a refresh happens?
A scheduled refresh would overwrite staging with live's current state, so anything in progress there needs to be understood as temporary — we'd document this clearly and can discuss scheduling around known testing periods if that's a genuine concern.
How would I know if a scheduled refresh silently failed?
We configure failure notification where feasible, and document how to manually confirm staging's last refresh date, since noticing an ongoing automation has stopped is a responsibility that transfers to you once this is set up.
Does this include database changes, or just files?
Whichever scope you specify — many refreshes cover both to keep staging genuinely representative of live, though some setups may only need one or the other depending on your specific testing needs.
Will staging accidentally get indexed by search engines after a refresh?
We verify search engine indexing remains blocked after each refresh specifically, since a refresh process could theoretically reset that protection if not carefully accounted for.

If this is the second time this year
A bad update breaking the site is a symptom of updates not being tested first. Care plans run every update on a staging clone before it reaches your live site, which is the actual fix for this happening again.
Your access, your rules
Create a separate admin account for us and delete it when we are done. For anything else, we get in touch and agree a method — never a form field on this site, never by reply to an email.
We back up first, always
Before anything is touched we take a full backup and keep it for 30 days. If a fix goes wrong, we put the site back exactly as it was.
If it is not what you bought
If the problem turns out smaller than what you ordered, we refund the difference. If it is bigger, we stop and send a quote before doing any extra work.
If we cannot fix it
You get back what we received. Diagnosis is on us — you only pay when the problem is actually solved. The payment processor takes its fee before the money reaches us, so we never hold it and it is not ours to return. That is true here as everywhere else.
If it comes back
Reply within seven days of delivery and we put it back on the bench at no cost. The fix is not finished until it holds.
What we are responsible for
If something goes wrong with a fix, our responsibility is limited to what you paid for it. We take a full backup first so mistakes can be undone, and we tell you before doing anything outside what you bought.
