Home / Fix a Problem / Store Not Working / Bulk product import from supplied CSV

Importing products is mostly preparation. WooCommerce accepts a specific CSV structure, and the difference between a clean import and a mess is whether the file matches it before you start. We map your columns, validate the data, test on a subset, then run the full import.

What makes an import go well

The single biggest factor is consistency in your file. One SKU per row, one format per column, and variations grouped with their parent.

You do not need to convert it to WooCommerce’s format — that is our job. But if the same field is formatted three different ways down the column, that has to be resolved before anything imports, and it is faster if you do that in the spreadsheet than if we do it row by row.

  3. Import a small subset first and check the result
  4. Run the full import, including variations, images and categories
  5. Verify products display, price and add to cart correctly
  6. Report anything that could not be imported, and why

Questions about this fix

How many products can you import?

This covers a normal catalogue import in one pass. Very large catalogues, tens of thousands of rows, need batching and often server adjustment — we tell you if yours is in that territory and quote accordingly rather than starting and stalling.

Will it create duplicates?

Not if SKUs are present and unique — WooCommerce matches on SKU and updates rather than duplicating. If your file has no SKUs, that is the first thing to fix, and we flag it before importing anything.

Can you import images from URLs?

Yes, provided the URLs are publicly reachable. They are downloaded into your media library so you are not depending on someone else's server afterwards. Large image sets take longer and we tell you if that changes the timing.

What if some rows fail?

You get a report of exactly which and why. Usually it is a handful of rows with a formatting problem, and the fix is obvious once named. Nothing is silently skipped.

Can you import products that already have reviews or ratings elsewhere?

Only if your export includes them in a structured way — plain text reviews with no rating or date attached usually can't be trusted to carry the same weight, and we'll tell you if that's the situation with your file.

A bad update breaking the site is a symptom of updates not being tested first. Care plans run every update on a staging clone before it reaches your live site, which is the actual fix for this happening again.

Your access, your rules

Create a separate admin account for us and delete it when we are done. For anything else, we get in touch and agree a method — never a form field on this site, never by reply to an email.

We back up first, always

Before anything is touched we take a full backup and keep it for 30 days. If a fix goes wrong, we put the site back exactly as it was.

If it is not what you bought

If the problem turns out smaller than what you ordered, we refund the difference. If it is bigger, we stop and send a quote before doing any extra work.

If we cannot fix it

You get back what we received. Diagnosis is on us — you only pay when the problem is actually solved. The payment processor takes its fee before the money reaches us, so we never hold it and it is not ours to return. That is true here as everywhere else.

If it comes back

Reply within seven days of delivery and we put it back on the bench at no cost. The fix is not finished until it holds.

What we are responsible for

If something goes wrong with a fix, our responsibility is limited to what you paid for it. We take a full backup first so mistakes can be undone, and we tell you before doing anything outside what you bought.
