This is an inventory and a plan, not the upgrades themselves: a full list of every plugin, theme, and core component that’s out of date, how far behind each one is, and which ones matter most given what’s actually vulnerable in the older version — so you can prioritise and budget for the actual upgrade work with real information instead of a vague sense that things need updating.
Outdated software inventory & upgrade plan
A full inventory of what's outdated, prioritised by real risk — not the updates themselves.
- Full backup taken before we start
- If we can’t fix it, you get your money back
- We never ask for your own password
What we need from you
- Admin and hosting access sufficient to inventory every installed component
- Confirmation of anything you already know is deliberately held back from updating (a compatibility issue, a discontinued plugin)
- Your preferred format for the resulting report
This or something else?
| You want a full inventory of what’s outdated and a prioritised plan, not the updates themselves | This fix covers it |
| You want the actual updates applied, not just a report on what needs updating | A different, remediation-focused fix, priced by the work involved |
| You specifically want vulnerability risk ranked, not just version age | Vulnerability scan & patch report, the more security-focused version |
| Something is actively broken because of an outdated component right now | A diagnostic fix instead — describe the specific symptom to us |
What we do
- Inventory every plugin, theme, and core component currently installed
- Determine how far behind current each one is
- Identify anything genuinely deprecated or no longer maintained by its developer
- Flag anything with a known compatibility risk before you attempt an update
- Prioritise the list by combined risk and effort
- Compile a written, actionable upgrade plan
What is included
- A complete inventory of outdated software across your site
- Prioritisation based on genuine risk and update effort
- Flags for anything deprecated or unmaintained
- A quote for the actual upgrade work, if you want one
Not included
- Applying the actual updates — quoted separately based on the plan
- Vulnerability-specific risk scoring in the same depth as a dedicated scan
- Testing compatibility of each update in advance of applying it
- Ongoing tracking as new updates are released after this report
Questions about this fix
Isn't this the same as what a vulnerability scan tells me?
Related but different in focus — a vulnerability scan ranks by exploitability specifically; this inventories everything outdated, including things that are behind but not currently known to be exploitable, useful for broader planning.
Why not just update everything to the latest version immediately?
Some updates carry real compatibility risk with your specific site, and updating without a plan can break something working — this report gives you the information to prioritise sensibly rather than update blindly.
What if something on the list is genuinely no longer maintained by its developer?
We flag that specifically, since an abandoned plugin or theme is a different kind of risk than one that's simply a few versions behind, and usually needs replacing rather than updating.
Will I need to hire you again to actually do the updates?
Not necessarily us specifically, though we're glad to quote for it — the report is written to be actionable by any competent developer, not locked to needing us for the follow-through.
How current will this report be by the time I act on it?
Accurate as of the scan date — since new updates and vulnerabilities are released continuously, a plan acted on promptly stays more relevant than one left for months.

If this is the second time this year
A bad update breaking the site is a symptom of updates not being tested first. Care plans run every update on a staging clone before it reaches your live site, which is the actual fix for this happening again.
Your access, your rules
Create a separate admin account for us and delete it when we are done. For anything else, we get in touch and agree a method — never a form field on this site, never by reply to an email.
We back up first, always
Before anything is touched we take a full backup and keep it for 30 days. If a fix goes wrong, we put the site back exactly as it was.
If it is not what you bought
If the problem turns out smaller than what you ordered, we refund the difference. If it is bigger, we stop and send a quote before doing any extra work.
If we cannot fix it
You get back what we received. Diagnosis is on us — you only pay when the problem is actually solved. The payment processor takes its fee before the money reaches us, so we never hold it and it is not ours to return. That is true here as everywhere else.
If it comes back
Reply within seven days of delivery and we put it back on the bench at no cost. The fix is not finished until it holds.
What we are responsible for
If something goes wrong with a fix, our responsibility is limited to what you paid for it. We take a full backup first so mistakes can be undone, and we tell you before doing anything outside what you bought.
