We install and configure an SSL certificate through your hosting control panel, whether that’s a free Let’s Encrypt certificate or one you’ve purchased separately — the specific steps and what’s actually possible depend entirely on what your host’s control panel exposes, which varies meaningfully between providers.
SSL certificate install & renewal via control panel
An SSL certificate installed through your control panel — free or purchased, whatever your host actually offers.
- Full backup taken before we start
- If we can’t fix it, you get your money back
- We never ask for your own password
What we need from you
- Access to your hosting control panel
- Confirmation of which certificate you want installed (Let’s Encrypt free, or one you’ve purchased)
- Confirmation of every domain and subdomain the certificate needs to cover
This or something else?
| You need an SSL certificate installed or renewed through your control panel | This fix covers it |
| Let’s Encrypt auto-renewal has already failed and needs diagnosing | Let’s Encrypt auto-renewal failure fix, the diagnostic version |
| You want broader HTTPS configuration issues resolved, not just certificate installation | HTTPS / SSL certificate configuration errors, in the Configuration & Environment category |
| Your host doesn’t offer a control panel with SSL management at all | Worth confirming your specific hosting setup, since the approach differs without control panel access |
What we do
- Confirm the certificate type and every domain it needs to cover
- Install or configure the certificate through your control panel’s available tools
- Verify the certificate covers every intended domain and subdomain correctly
- Confirm the site loads correctly over HTTPS without warnings
- Set up or verify auto-renewal where the host’s control panel supports it
- Document what was configured, including any limitation your specific host imposed
What is included
- An SSL certificate installed and verified across your specified domains
- Confirmed HTTPS loading without warnings
- Auto-renewal configured where your host’s control panel supports it
- A written note on the configuration and any host-specific limitation found
Not included
- Purchasing the certificate itself, if it’s not a free option your host provides
- Overriding a limitation your host’s control panel doesn’t permit — where that’s the case, we document it and, where appropriate, help you raise it with your host directly
- Broader HTTPS configuration issues beyond certificate installation, a separate, related fix
- Ongoing certificate management as a standing service
Questions about this fix
What if my host's control panel doesn't support automatic renewal?
Some hosts genuinely don't offer this, in which case we'd document the manual renewal process and how often it needs doing, since that's a limitation of the hosting environment rather than something we can configure around.
Can you install a certificate I purchased elsewhere, not just Let's Encrypt?
Yes, if your control panel supports installing a certificate from another provider, though the specific process varies by host and by the certificate type.
Will this cover subdomains automatically, or do I need to specify each one?
Depends on the certificate type — a wildcard certificate covers subdomains automatically, while a standard one typically needs each domain and subdomain explicitly listed, which we'd confirm with you upfront.
What if my hosting control panel simply doesn't offer SSL management at all?
That's a genuine limitation of some hosting setups — we'd confirm this early and discuss what alternative approach (like a CDN-level certificate) might be feasible instead.
Will there be any downtime while the certificate is being installed?
Generally minimal to none for a straightforward installation, though we'd flag if your specific situation carries any risk of a brief disruption.

If this is the second time this year
A bad update breaking the site is a symptom of updates not being tested first. Care plans run every update on a staging clone before it reaches your live site, which is the actual fix for this happening again.
Your access, your rules
Create a separate admin account for us and delete it when we are done. For anything else, we get in touch and agree a method — never a form field on this site, never by reply to an email.
We back up first, always
Before anything is touched we take a full backup and keep it for 30 days. If a fix goes wrong, we put the site back exactly as it was.
If it is not what you bought
If the problem turns out smaller than what you ordered, we refund the difference. If it is bigger, we stop and send a quote before doing any extra work.
If we cannot fix it
You get back what we received. Diagnosis is on us — you only pay when the problem is actually solved. The payment processor takes its fee before the money reaches us, so we never hold it and it is not ours to return. That is true here as everywhere else.
If it comes back
Reply within seven days of delivery and we put it back on the bench at no cost. The fix is not finished until it holds.
What we are responsible for
If something goes wrong with a fix, our responsibility is limited to what you paid for it. We take a full backup first so mistakes can be undone, and we tell you before doing anything outside what you bought.
