Home / Fix a Problem / Site is Slow / Full performance overhaul - multi-area

This is for a site with more than one performance problem at once, where fixing them one at a time as separate purchases would cost more and take longer than addressing them together — front-end assets, caching, database health and server response looked at as one connected system rather than four separate tickets handled in isolation.

Who this is actually for

If you already know your one specific problem, a targeted fix — Core Web Vitals remediation, caching, database cleanup — is usually cheaper and faster than this.

This is for a site that hasn’t been touched for performance in years, is genuinely slow across every measure you check, or is preparing for a traffic increase and wants everything addressed at once rather than in a slow sequence of separate purchases spread over months.

It also suits a site where the causes are genuinely tangled together — a slow database making caching less effective, images loading slowly on top of a server response problem — where fixing one area in isolation would show only a partial improvement until the others are addressed too.

The order we work in still matters even within one engagement — there’s no point spending time on front-end polish if the database is about to be restructured underneath it, so the sequence is planned before any individual change is made, not tackled area by area as they happen to come to mind. Database and server-level work generally comes first, since front-end fixes are easiest to verify once the underlying platform they sit on is already behaving predictably, and a front-end measurement taken against an unstable database or server is not one you can fully trust anyway.

Full performance overhaul - multi-area

Your site is slow across more than one area at once — front-end, caching, database, server. We look at it as one connected system and fix it together.

Needs WP admin login, SFTP access, Hosting panel and Staging environment. Create a limited sub-account — we never ask for your own password.
  • Full backup taken before we start
  • If we can’t fix it, you get your money back

What we need from you

  • Confirmation you want a comprehensive pass rather than one specific fix
  • Any known constraints — hosting plan, budget for a hosting upgrade if one turns out to be genuinely needed as part of the diagnosis
  • Whether there’s a deadline — a launch, a sale, a traffic event — driving the timing
  • Staging environment access if you have one, since this touches multiple areas at once

This or something else?

Multiple performance problems across front-end, database and server This fix covers it
One specific, already-identified problem The specific fix for that problem
Just want to know what’s wrong before committing to anything Slow site diagnostic report
Site is fine now but you want ongoing monitoring Core Web Vitals monitoring setup
Store-specific slowness at scale Slow shop & archive page optimization

What we do

  1. Run a full diagnostic across front-end assets, caching, database and server response
  2. Prioritise fixes by actual impact, addressing the biggest costs first
  3. Apply front-end fixes — images, render-blocking resources, Core Web Vitals
  4. Configure or correct caching and, where relevant, server-level response tuning
  5. Clean up database bloat contributing to slow queries across the site
  6. Re-test comprehensively and provide a before-and-after comparison across every area touched

What is included

  • A comprehensive pass across front-end, caching, database and server-level performance
  • Fixes prioritised and applied in the order that actually matters for your site
  • Before-and-after measurement across every area addressed
  • The pre-change backup, kept for 30 days

Not included

  • A hosting upgrade itself, if the diagnostic shows that’s genuinely needed
  • Ongoing monitoring after the engagement ends
  • Content or design changes
  • Guaranteeing a specific score, since real-world results depend on hosting and traffic too

Questions about this fix

How is this different from buying several individual fixes?

Individual fixes are diagnosed and priced separately, which works well for one known problem. This is diagnosed once, as a connected system, and prioritised by actual impact rather than by which product happened to get purchased first.

Will I still need a hosting upgrade after this?

Sometimes, and we'll tell you plainly if the diagnostic shows the current hosting plan is genuinely the ceiling, rather than continue optimising around a hard limit indefinitely.

How long does a full overhaul take compared to a single fix?

Longer, since it covers more ground, but usually less than the sum of buying each area separately in sequence, because the diagnostic and testing overlap across areas rather than repeating for each one.

Do I need staging for this?

It helps, since several areas are touched at once, but isn't required — we can work carefully on a live site with backups at each stage if staging isn't available.

What if the diagnostic finds fewer problems than expected?

Then the scope and cost reflect that — we don't manufacture work to fill a package, and we'd rather tell you a smaller, targeted fix would do the job just as well.

If this is the second time this year

A bad update breaking the site is a symptom of updates not being tested first. Care plans run every update on a staging clone before it reaches your live site, which is the actual fix for this happening again.

Your access, your rules

Create a separate admin account for us and delete it when we are done. For anything else, we get in touch and agree a method — never a form field on this site, never by reply to an email.

We back up first, always

Before anything is touched we take a full backup and keep it for 30 days. If a fix goes wrong, we put the site back exactly as it was.

If it is not what you bought

If the problem turns out smaller than what you ordered, we refund the difference. If it is bigger, we stop and send a quote before doing any extra work.

If we cannot fix it

You get back what we received. Diagnosis is on us — you only pay when the problem is actually solved. The payment processor takes its fee before the money reaches us, so we never hold it and it is not ours to return. That is true here as everywhere else.

If it comes back

Reply within seven days of delivery and we put it back on the bench at no cost. The fix is not finished until it holds.

What we are responsible for

If something goes wrong with a fix, our responsibility is limited to what you paid for it. We take a full backup first so mistakes can be undone, and we tell you before doing anything outside what you bought.
