sellers.json and app-ads.txt work alongside standard ads.txt to give ad buyers additional transparency about who’s actually selling your inventory, particularly relevant if you have an app alongside your website, or want the fuller supply-chain transparency some buyers now require before bidding.
sellers.json / app-ads.txt setup
sellers.json and app-ads.txt set up correctly for the supply-chain transparency some buyers require.
- Full backup taken before we start
- If we can’t fix it, you get your money back
- We never ask for your own password
What we need from you
- Confirmation of whether you have a mobile app alongside your website, relevant for app-ads.txt
- Access to your site’s root directory for file placement
- Confirmation of every ad network or reseller you work with
This or something else?
| You have an app and need app-ads.txt, or need sellers.json addressed | This fix covers it |
| You just need standard ads.txt for your website | AdSense ads.txt setup & error resolution, the more common need |
| You have a broader policy violation, not a missing authorization file | AdSense policy violation – technical remediation |
What we do
- Confirm which files are relevant to your specific setup (sellers.json is typically the platform’s own file; app-ads.txt is for your own app inventory)
- Verify or generate the correct file content for every legitimate seller involved
- Publish files at the correct locations
- Verify crawlability and correct formatting
- Cross-check consistency with your existing ads.txt
- Confirm no warnings or errors remain in your ad platform accounts
What is included
- Correctly formatted, published files for your specific setup
- Verified crawlability and consistency with existing authorization files
- Confirmation of cleared warnings, where applicable
- A written note on what was set up and why
Not included
- ads.txt setup itself, if not already done — a related, separate fix
- Setting up a mobile app or its ad monetization from scratch
- Ongoing updates as you add new ad networks or resellers
- Resolving unrelated ad policy issues
Questions about this fix
Do I actually need sellers.json, or is ads.txt enough?
For most website-only publishers, ads.txt covers what's needed — sellers.json is more relevant to larger operations or ad tech companies; we'll confirm whether your specific setup actually requires it.
What's the difference between ads.txt and app-ads.txt?
ads.txt covers your website's inventory; app-ads.txt is the equivalent for a mobile app's ad inventory — you need the app-specific one only if you actually have an app serving ads.
Will this affect my website's existing ads.txt file?
No, they're separate files serving separate purposes, though we do check them for consistency so buyers see a coherent picture across your whole inventory.
How do I know if I'm actually affected by not having these set up?
Some buyers specifically require this level of transparency before bidding, which can show up as lower fill rates from certain demand sources — we check your current setup to confirm whether this is genuinely worth addressing for you.
Is this something most site owners need to worry about?
Honestly, no — most smaller sites are fully covered by standard ads.txt alone; this is more relevant if you have an app, work with resellers, or specific buyers have flagged a requirement.

If this is the second time this year
A bad update breaking the site is a symptom of updates not being tested first. Care plans run every update on a staging clone before it reaches your live site, which is the actual fix for this happening again.
Your access, your rules
Create a separate admin account for us and delete it when we are done. For anything else, we get in touch and agree a method — never a form field on this site, never by reply to an email.
We back up first, always
Before anything is touched we take a full backup and keep it for 30 days. If a fix goes wrong, we put the site back exactly as it was.
If it is not what you bought
If the problem turns out smaller than what you ordered, we refund the difference. If it is bigger, we stop and send a quote before doing any extra work.
If we cannot fix it
You get back what we received. Diagnosis is on us — you only pay when the problem is actually solved. The payment processor takes its fee before the money reaches us, so we never hold it and it is not ours to return. That is true here as everywhere else.
If it comes back
Reply within seven days of delivery and we put it back on the bench at no cost. The fix is not finished until it holds.
What we are responsible for
If something goes wrong with a fix, our responsibility is limited to what you paid for it. We take a full backup first so mistakes can be undone, and we tell you before doing anything outside what you bought.
